Everyone has a story; mine is like so many others. My story is my life, as charmed as it is, but it has not been without heartache. There is no doubt that everyone, whatever their circumstances in life, has struggles and have suffered unbearable grief. It's what is supposed to make us strong. I wrote this book 20 years ago, the year I found my son. It's been sitting in a drawer in a folder hidden away for all these years. My daughter and I went to a book writing conference and for the heck of it, I took the book with me. When I left the seminar I decided to have it published. Unplanned pregnancies make up 47% of all pregnancies in a given year, but in the teenage population, 87% of all pregnancies are not planned as reported by the American Pregnancy Association. Certainly through the years, circumstances and options surrounding unplanned pregnancies and unwed mothers have evolved, but the emotions shared by women faced with this situation remain constant. Fear of the unknown, lack of knowledge about options, and the shame of disappointing family all create overwhelming emotions for a young girl facing an unplanned pregnancy. While statistics show the number of unplanned pregnancies has steadily declined, there are still many young women that experience this life altering event, often with little or no support system.
